RECREATION AND EQUESTRIAN COALITION

10th Annual REC RIDE to CELEBRATE RECREATION & ACCESS TO PUBLIC LANDS

HONOREES:     MOUNTED VOLUNTEER PATROL of the Santa Monica Mountains -

Volunteers are an integral part of public parkland agencies by donating their time & efforts to support public safety goals, protect resources, and enhance the visitor experience.  Bernie Weiss is a true role model for Volunteers. He is the leader & liaison that collaborates with 60 Volunteers, three park agencies (NPS, SP, MRCA), and the public. He recently received the Pacific West Regional George Hartzog Individual Volunteer Award from the Dept. of Interior NPS. He recruits, helps train, and rides with the Volunteers to assist in their understanding and patrolling of the vast mountainous areas to be covered.  The Volunteers provide their own horses & equipment; and they must go through rigorous and continual training to qualify and to remain in the program.  Their generosity of time and effort provides invaluable support to the agencies and to the public.  Please join us to honor and thank the Mounted Volunteer Patrol (MVP) for their contributions to public lands & to the Equestrian Industry.
